Jungle Temple Finder

Jungle temples are mossy cobblestone ruins half swallowed by the canopy, which makes them easy to walk straight past. Use the seed and version boxes to plot each temple near spawn; the list below gives every one's position and how far it is. Click one, and if the map shows it deep in dense jungle, bring an axe or shears for the last stretch.

Which jungles count

The temple check accepts two biomes, jungle and bamboo jungle. Sparse jungle, the thinner fringe around them, never gets one, so a temple nearly always sits inside the dense part. Java tries once per 32×32-chunk region (512 blocks) and also checks that the ground under the 12×15 footprint is high enough before building.

On Bedrock the attempt spot is shared with desert temples, witch huts and igloos; a jungle biome claims it for a temple.

Solving the temple

There are two chests. One is behind a lever puzzle on the lower floor. The other waits at the end of a corridor where tripwires trigger arrow dispensers; cut the string with shears and it disarms without firing, and the dispensers keep their arrows for you. Chests can contain diamonds, emeralds, gold, enchanted books, bamboo and the Wild armor trim.

The building is also an early redstone kit. Mine out the puzzle and the trap for sticky pistons, redstone dust, repeaters, tripwire hooks and dispensers, parts that would otherwise cost slime balls and a fair amount of crafting.

Crossing the jungle

Dense jungle is slow on foot. Approach along a river if the map shows one nearby, or bridge over the treetops. Bamboo jungle around a temple is also where pandas live, and plain jungle has parrots, ocelots and cocoa beans, so the trip is a good moment to collect them. Wild melons grow on the jungle floor, and the giant two-by-two jungle trees are a rich source of logs.
